Environmental Sustainable Design

Project 1

In this project, we are require to form a group of 10, find out a community service and experience it. We are require to give a help to one of those community not only for youth but also serve to all the people. The actual purpose of this project is to future develop our community skill. For our group, we found through NGO(None Government Organization) and get Refuge for the Refugees(RFTR) this centre which mainly to refuge the Myanmar children whose parents are currently working at here and give them education .

The task that given to us is to identify the environmental community relate issue in the community that we have went to. We have to try and help them solve their issue and fulfill the lack in the area. At last we do have to prepare one video presentation and report to record down the whole process of this project.

Reflection:-
Overall for this project, I can conclude that this project is amazing  and I really appreciate to the hardwork and time that sacrifice from my group mate. Without their effort , I think we can't really get this project done well. Beside of this, I have also gain some knowledge how to build a furniture, the material of timber and also the technique to build all if that. Thanks for the help from the lecturer that show us the direction to give a more comfort help to those children. They did also guild us on our design and the way we do this project. I found out this is quite amazing that we not only can help out children and also can close up the relationship between friends and lecturer.

Building Construction

Project 1
In this project, we have to form a group of 8 and I have group with Woo Wen Jian, Nicolas Wong, Lim Hui Sim, Megan Chung, Benny Tan, Shirley Liew, Preston Liew. The task for this project is to produce a report that present the understanding of the process of construction.We have choose a site which located in Sri Kembangan

 

Overall in this project, I have gain much knowledge on the element and technology that they use build a building or houses. The main thing is I have understand the step to form a project. Much thanks to the contractor which bring us go around again and again to explain every single detail of construction and make sure we understand of it.

Project 2
In this project, student require to do an A2 presentation board to show the understanding of material that we used to build for our final studio project, which is a retreat house.

For my retreat house, I have mostly used wood plates and glass for my building because I wan to bring out the harmony of my building toward the site.

For this assignment, it help me know more detail on the structure of the building and also this can develop more from project 1. It can be part of the interesting part of this subject because I can know much new knowledge.

Project 1

The aim of this project is to encourage student to investigate and explore how spaces are created from the spaces making of architectural elements such as architectonics- solids, plans, lines and frames. Through all these progress, students are able to achieve a level of understanding o the work assigned and will be able to apply the concepts and idea to their project.

In this project, I have get to understand more about Tadao Ando which is a famous Japanese Architect. Through analyse his building, we get to know more about his concept and signature toward Azuma house, the building that design by him. It give me a chance to understand how the house function not only beyond the site and also every single spaces that create by Tadao Ando. Besides, honestly, I can feel how interesting when we as a group starting to abstract his work and form out 10 different kind of conceptual small model based on Azuma house.


Project 2

Project 2 is mainly concentrate on generate structure, form and space through architectural conceptualisation, with the emphasis on the user requirement , ergonomics and site responding to develop and architectural proposition. There are two parts in this project which are 2A 5 people in one group and 2B 2 students in one group. For the 2A, students have to create a slide to present out their investment and understanding on the site. I have again form a group with the previous project and we get a title of Vegetation and Hydrology. The task that we need to do is basically about understand and find out the flora fauna on the site and also invest the density and flow of the water.

For the 2B project , we have to form a group of 2 which i group with Nicolas Wong. The task is we have to based on the site analysis that we have done to design a bird watching tower for spiritual leader, a client that gave by lecturer. There has also limited space for our building  which is 3x3x3 on the site.

Reflection :-

Overall of this project, first, I can conclude that I got a good teammate and he teach me much in this project. We did also cooperate well and have a good communication within this project. This can consider the first time that I design a bird watching tower and it is also based on site context and analysis to form our building. This could be one of the interesting session that I have enjoy during sem 2. By sacrificing all the time and energy, I do think there are all worth to learn something new.

Final Project

For this project, students have given a task to develop the bird watching tower into a different building which is retreat house for the same client. This retreat house must function as a habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living room , dinning, showering, cooking, storage and etc within a space of 150 meter square.

Students have the requirement to perform a presentation board and one contour model with the retreat house model on it to show the location for the final presentation. 

I have find a specific client for this spiritual leader who is Don Miguel Ruiz, a Mexican. Throughout all the understanding, I have design a retreat house with the style of minimalism which suit the characteristic of spiritual leader, simplicity. Besides, I have create different kind of spaces and form of shape based Don Miguel Ruiz and also the site context. My main concept of this retreat house is about transition which represent the client life.

Reflection

For this project, I can say that it is quite tiring and challenging to me, but i do think that exciting and enjoyable in this project are more than those. During this project, I have understand one of the most important that we have to concern during the progress of design is to understand the site and design relate to the site. I did also understand quite many on light effect that used to bring out the quality of the site. Overall I'm glad that I manage to finish up this project successfully and pass through all the obstacles that face during this project.

Architecture Culture and History 2

Project 1

This is the first assignment of project that we get for our culture and history 2 during our sem 2. Student require to form a group of 5 and choose one architect that given by lecturer. We have to conduct architecture analysis on one building based on the architect that we have choose, which is Tadao Ando and the building that we have choose is Raw house.

This project has separated into two part which is group and individual part.

Reflection:
Through this project we have understand much on Tadao Ando, design concept and his building ideas. This will bring much inspiration toward us student as we are studying. Beside although his building look simple but its look sustainable toward others as this can bring to people the feeling of secure. However I did also admire Tadao Ando design concept which giving more interaction toward family. Overall I can say that Tadao Ando is one of my favourite architect among all.

Project 2
In this project, student require to follow their previous group and do a research and architectural analysis on a selected building which given by lecturer. Every group has the opportunity to choose their own modern buildings around Klang Valley. For our group , we have choose Stadium Merdeka as our group building. The task that given is to prepare a report, layout design and web book compilation.

Reflection 

Through this project, I have get a chance to know and understand about Stadium Merdeka. Honestly, even though I live in Kuala Lumpur, I have never been and look for it. Thanks lecturer that gave us this chance to get to know about the principle, idea and contributing factors about Stadium Merdeka. Other from that, we do have also get a chance to improve our documenting skill of a project in form of writings, descriptive diagrams and photography. At last i hope that people nowadays should have go and look for more about heritage place and not let all these building get abandon.
